[Thailand takes a big step]

In Thailand, the largest wind farm in Southeast Asia is about to start operations. In the province of Nakhon Ratchasima, in the north-east of the country, 45 type SWT-2.3-101 Siemens turbines are ready to go on-grid. The wind farm, with an installed capacity of 103.5 MW, has been realized by Thai Wind Energy Holding Co. (WEH). Nopporn Suppipat, the company's founder and Managing Director, said that once operational, the project will top Southeast Asia's current largest wind farm at Bangui Bay in the Philippines, which has been operating since 2005 with a capacity of 33 MW.
